Understanding the Enrolment Process

The Enrolment Process depends on the categories below:

Fulltime courses that require an Interview:

This takes place in 3 parts:

  1. Apply for Interview

Before applying for an interview, please check that you are eligible to take the course - each course page has a section marked 'Entry Requirement' and this section details the eligibility requirement. If you are not sure about eligibility, please contact us before making any payment.
If you wish to go ahead and apply for an interview simply make a payment for €50 using one of the payment methods listed in the section How do I Make a Payment?
Please note: The €50 payment is non-refundable and non-deductable. Do not make any other payment until you have had the interview and have been offered a place by Portobello Institute.

  1. Acceptance of Place if Interview is successful

If you are offered a place after interview, you will accept it by making a deposit of €1,250 within 10 days of receiving your offer. Included in this deposit is a Booking Fee of €120 which is non-refundable should you cancel your place on the course. The Booking Fee is fully deductible from the full course fee. You can make this payment using one of the methods listed in the section How do I Make a Payment?

  1. Make Final Payments on Balances Outstanding

1 month before the course start date, you will pay the balance of any course fees plus any examination fees where relevant. You will find details of exam fees in the relevant Fees and Schedules section for your course (see box on right hand side). Exam fees listed in a currency other than Euro must be paid by Bankers Draft and made out to the relevant Examination Board in the currency specified. Please see How do I Make a Payment for Exam Fees?.
Please note: There is a Late Payment policy which may apply if your account is not settled within 10 days of course commencement.

Part time courses and courses without interview:

Courses fill on a first come, first served basis and so early registration is recommended. Exam fees for part time courses are invoiced to you once you join the course. Details of exam fees can be found in the relevant Fees and Schedules section for your course (links to these are in the box on the right hand side of this page).

Please note: Part time course fees are inclusive of a non-refundable booking fee of €120.  The €120 payment is non-refundable should you decide to cancel your place on the course. It is fully deductible from the full course fees.

Please note: There is a Late Payment policy which may apply if your account is not settled within 10 days of course commencement.

International students (non resident EU or non EU):

Please contact Portobello Institute regarding course enrolment. There are a number of steps involved which we would be happy to assist you on. You can also obtain some helpful information in the International Students - How to apply for a Course section.

How do I Make a Payment to Enrol?

You can use one of these options to make payment:

If you are enrolling for a fulltime course that requires an interview, then make your payment for €50 in order to book the interview. Please make sure you are eligible before booking.

If you are enrolling for a course that does not require interview (eg part time courses), then make your payment for the full course fee amount.

Online Payment Facility:

To use the online payment facility, you will need to pay by credit card and have on hand the following information:

  • Course Name, Course Code, Course Start Date
  • Your PPS number
(A PPS number is required by HETAC and FETAC for certification purposes. You can omit this information if you are an International Student or if your course is not FETAC/HETAC certified)

Printed Booking Form:

You will need the same information as per the Online Payment. Print out the Printed Booking form and fill in the fields by hand. You can return it with your payment to:

Portobello Institute
43 Lower Dominick St
Dublin 1, Ireland

We will accept the following payment types with the Printed Booking Form:

  • Cash - only in person
  • Cheque/Postal order - made payable to Portobello Institute
  • Credit Card - fill out the details on the form

Can I enrol if the Course Code is not available?

No. If a Course Code is not available that means we are not taking bookings for that course at this time. Course Codes, Fees and other details are usually published no later than 3 months from the start date of the course. Please check back, or email us if you need more information about the course.

How do I Make a Payment for Exam Fees?

Check the currency of the exam fee. If its in Euro € you can use either the Online Payment Facility or the Printed Booking form.

If the exam fee is in a currency that is NOT Euro, then you will need to obtain a Bankers Draft which can be made out to Portobello Institute in the currency specified. In this case, you will not be able to use the Online Payment form. If you are unclear, please contact Portobello Institute for the correct details.

Part time courses: Exam fees are invoiced to you during the course itself.

Fulltime courses: You must pay for the exam fees (if applicable) before taking your place on the course.

Exam fees are listed in the Fees and Schedules for your course (links to these are in the box on the right hand side of this page)

Late Payment Policy

Course fees (and exam fees for fulltime courses) are payable no later than 10 days prior to the commencement of the course. Failure to pay on the due date will result in a cancellation of place on course and a penalty fee of 10% of the outstanding balance will be charged. Fees are still payable should a student fail to complete the course. Tuition fees, deposits and examination fees are not refundable under any other circumstances.

Installment Policy

There is a discretionary installment option available for Courses over €1000. To apply for the Instalment Option please contact:
